Review : The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

“Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of themβ€”the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.
Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legendβ€”a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for again.” (goodreads)

This was such a good book! I wasn’t sure at first because i haven’t read a vampire book since Twilight. I loved it. The universe created by Julie Kawaga is brillant and so well constructed. This book was like a breath of fresh air.
The setting was so fascinating. I kept picturing vampires in a place like Silent Hill, it was dark, creepy and original. The scenary was awesome.
And the character development was fantastic. They are all so well written. Allison is such a badass main character. Plus, her being a vampire made her even more epic. She’s independent, brave, and incredible. I actually enjoy all the other characters too. Kanin is amazing. Zeke is fantastic.
I would really recommend The Immortal Rules if you want to get back into the vampire genre or if you are looking for a very good story.

The Immortal Rules : 4/5
