“Everyone knows Alice slept with two guys at one party.
But did you know Alice was sexting Brandon when he crashed his car?
It’s true. Ask ANYBODY.
Rumor has it that Alice Franklin is a slut. It’s written all over the bathroom stall at Healy High for everyone to see. And after star quarterback Brandon Fitzsimmons dies in a car accident, the rumors start to spiral out of control.
In this remarkable debut novel, four Healy High students—the girl who has the infamous party, the car accident survivor, the former best friend, and the boy next door—tell all they know.
But exactly what is the truth about Alice? In the end there’s only one person to ask: Alice herself.”
This was a quick and very enjoyable read. I really liked this one.
The story was very intriguing. i absolutely love the fact that the story is told by the side characters and not Alice herself. It really shows how little we know about other people. How they think and why they act a certain way is not always easy to understand. This book is a good exemple, nobody knows the truth, they just have a couple of pieces of the big story. This book is told by 4 different POVs and I find this format to be very well done. Each character has is own voice and it’s easy to see the difference between them. They all had a unique perspective and made this story even more intriguing because they all see Alice in their own way.
The story was okay. Not much is happening, but it explores the whole teenage life pretty well. It’s amazing how awful teenagers can be and how fast they can turn on each other. Only the strong survive…and Alice is one hell of a strong girl. I find her very interesting and i like reading all those stories about her and learning who she is.
The characters are mostly stereotypes, but i feel like it is an important part of the book. It didn’t bother me that much because i could see the writer playing with all those cliché characters and making a point, showing the reader that life is unfair and some people are just untouchable.
I also really like the emotional parts in this book. This book is powerful. The whole rumors aspect is actually pretty scary. it’s amazing to think that a simple text can destroy a life so easily. It’s also about death. Josh’s chapters were very sad and emotional, especially towards the end. He’s having such a hard time getting back to his life after his best friend’s death and Mathieu really know how to show Josh’s pain.
This was a great book, i would recommend it!
