“Sixteen-year-old physics nerd Aysel is obsessed with plotting her own death. With a mother who can barely look at her without wincing, classmates who whisper behind her back, and a father whose violent crime rocked her small town, Aysel is ready to turn her potential energy into nothingness.
There’s only one problem: she’s not sure she has the courage to do it alone. But once she discovers a website with a section called Suicide Partners, Aysel’s convinced she’s found her solution–Roman, a teenage boy who’s haunted by a family tragedy, is looking for a partner. Even though Aysel and Roman have nothing in common, they slowly start to fill in each other’s broken lives. But as their suicide pact becomes more concrete, Aysel begins to question whether she really wants to go through with it. Ultimately, she must choose between wanting to die or trying to convince Roman to live so they can discover the potential of their energy together.”
before I start talking about the inside, i need to say that i absolutely LOVE the cover of this book! It’s so pretty!
now, the story itself is really dark, some parts were pretty hard to read. But i really enjoyed it, it was a very special story. Even if it’s a book about suicide, i felt like it was also a book about hope, a book about learning how to survive the hard part of life.
The best part of this book is the characters. Aysel is a beautiful character. She’s incredibly real and relatable, and full of saddnest. But i also like how her depression is not the only thing that defines her. She is also smart and caring and wonderful. I like her obsession with physics and how she relates it to her depression. Watching her and Roman getting to know eachother was wonderful. I like their relationship. They’re both full of passion and potential, you just want everything to be okay.
An other of my favorite thing about this book is the writing. Warga’s writing is extraodinary. I have found so many amazing quotes in this book. She knows how to make you feel all the emotions.
i think this book was well done, i ended up loving it much more than i expected. i would recommend it.
