“Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit. Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London—but no one speaks of that now. Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to another world for her ‘proper adventure’. But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive—trickier than they hoped.”
this book was incredible. The story is just so fun and really captivating. Time traveling, magic, mystery, everything is so well-done. i absolutely love the whole world she created and how we get to see it. Even if it’s complex and rich, I was never lost or not sure if i really understood the world, it was easy to follow. The characters are all so freaking amazing. Kell and Lila both have a very interesting voice. Similar in many ways, but also different. They have a great chemistry and i love seeing them interact. Kell is great. I like that he is clever, but he also makes mistakes. He’s human and he has flaws. Lila is super badass, she’s looking for adventure and i love her. She is strong and capable of taking her of herself. Rhy also got my heart, really like him and his relationship with Kell. Can’t wait to see more of these amazing characters!! And the writing. The writing is magnificent, it hits me everytime I open up a book by Schwab… i just have to say that I really, really, really, really like her writing style. It’s poetic and beautiful without being too much. She is capable of bringing this magical world to live in such a wonderful way.
I usually am scared of overhyped book, but with this one, i knew from the first sentence that I was in for a good read. I am so excited for the next book in this series, SO EXCITED!
