Review : Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (book #4) by J.K. Rowling

“The summer holidays are dragging on and Harry Potter can’t wait for the start of the school year. It is his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and there are spells to be learnt and (unluckily) Potions and Divination lessons to be attended. But Harry can’t know that the atmosphere is darkening around him, and his worst enemy is preparing a fate that it seems will be inescapable”

Oh my god, this was sooooo good! I remember loving this book before, but i feel like i enjoyed it 10x more during this reread. It is such and emotinal read, for many reasons. The last couple chapters made me cry. i knew what was going to happen, i’ve read it 10 times already and i saw the movies like 24773753586 times, but gosh this one hit me in the feels. Cedric is such a kind character, i would’ve love to see more of him. I love the story in this one, it takes such a darker turn, but it is still very fun. I love reading about the tasks and the bal. I also think J.K. Rowling is a genius when it comes to planning her series, you can already see little hints of what is going to happen in the next couple of books. Again, every characters is A+. I absolutely LOVE Harry and Ron’s friendship. I know they have this fights, but i feel like because of it, we get to really see how much they care of eachother too. but still, Harry and Ron fighting made my heart hurt so much. I always felt likr the movies didn’t show their friendship has much, they always focus on the Harry/Hermione friendship in my opinion. I think my only little problem with this book was Hermione and her whole Elf liberation storyline, i found it a bit annoying, but i did like that she was standing up for what she believes in. I like seeing more of Sirius, we really get to see how much he cares for Harry and it’s freaking ADORABLE!

I had so much fun rereading this book, probably one of my favorite in the series.

Review : Hollow City (Book #2) by Ransom Riggs

“This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine’s island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other unexpected surprises.”

I’m really enjoying this series so far, but i’m not going to lie, this book was a bit repetitive. The group of peculiars mostly just run from one place to an other and meeting other people. Some are nice, others are not….. this is what happens during 400pages. It’s not that i disliked it, but i felt like the story was not that interesting. The last couple of chapters were great, making me very excited for the next book! The characters are interesting, we have a nice, original cast of people. They are fun to follow around, but i did wish we could see them use their powers a bit more. I did have a bit of a problem with the romance, i found it dull. Nothing between them felt real, it was even a bit superficial. The writing style is great, i really enjoyed it and i’m excited to see more of Ransom Riggs stories! The black and white pictures adds a creepy/weird vibe to the story and i don’t think i would have like this series without them

this book sounds great, i have never read anything by Richelle Mead but i’m very excited about this one.

Soundless : “For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom. When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence is plunged into crisis, under threat of darkness and starvation.

But soon Fei is awoken in the night by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon.”

Review : #Scandal by Sarah Ockler

“Lucy’s learned some important lessons from tabloid darling Jayla Heart’s all-too-public blunders: Avoid the spotlight, don’t feed the Internet trolls, and keep your secrets secret. The policy has served Lucy well all through high school, so when her best friend Ellie gets sick before prom and begs her to step in as Cole’s date, she accepts with a smile, silencing about ten different reservations. Like the one where she’d rather stay home shredding online zombies. And the one where she hates playing dress-up. And especially the one where she’s been secretly in love with Cole since the dawn of time.

When Cole surprises her at the after party with a kiss under the stars, it’s everything Lucy has ever dreamed of… and the biggest BFF deal-breaker ever. Despite Cole’s lingering sweetness, Lucy knows they’ll have to ’fess up to Ellie. But before they get the chance, Lucy’s own Facebook profile mysteriously explodes with compromising pics of her and Cole, along with tons of other students’ party indiscretions. Tagged. Liked. And furiously viral.
By Monday morning, Lucy’s been branded a slut, a backstabber, and a narc, mired in a tabloid-worthy scandal just weeks before graduation.
Lucy’s been battling undead masses online long enough to know there’s only one way to survive a disaster of this magnitude: Stand up and fight. Game plan? Uncover and expose the Facebook hacker, win back her best friend’s trust, and graduate with a clean slate.”
I really wanted this book to be super awesome : Gamer main girl, social media, cute romance and a bit of a Gossip Girl vibe, yes please.

But nop, this book felt flat for me. I barely could finished it.

The romance was not what I expected. Cole is almost not in the book which was a bit dissapointing. Lucy is in love with him from the start, but i couldn’t see it. I couldn’t believe it, not when they spend most of the book not with eachother. Plus, when they were together, i didn’t felt the chemistery. Sadly, i don’t believe in the Cold/Lucy couple and i really didn’t care about them. i think it also has to do with how boring the charaters were… The only awesome thing about Lucy was her whole “Zombie love”, but it was over played. it’s aaaallll she was talking about. that and the fact that she was in love with her best friend’s boyfriend. Also, i hated that she had many times when she could stand up for herself but didn’t. i wanted to punch her the face, she kept saying that the friendship was sooo important for her, but i felt like she didn’t fight for it that much. She was more focus on finding out who posted the picture than saving her friendship. All the side characters was empty and dull too. I did like the writing style overall, but couldn’t really enjoy it because i dislike the story AND the characters….

Can’t say i would recommend this book, i found it boring. I was in a mood for a cute romance, this was not it..

Review : Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (book #3) by J. K. Rowling

“Harry Potter is lucky to reach the age of thirteen, since he has already survived the murderous attacks of the feared Dark Lord on more than one occasion. But his hopes for a quiet term concentrating on Quidditch are dashed when a maniacal mass-murderer escapes from Azkaban, pursued by the soul-sucking Dementors who guard the prison. It’s assumed that Hogwarts is the safest place for Harry to be. But is it a coincidence that he can feel eyes watching him in the dark, and should he be taking Professor Trelawney’s ghoulish predictions seriously?”

Continuing my Harry Potter talk with book # 3! I remembered this one being my favorite in the series, so i was really excited to reread it! And it was not a let down, this book is SO GOOD. There is so many things I like about it, mostly i like the new characters. Sirius Black has to be one of my favorite character in this series. He is such an interesting addition to the story and he is so good to Harry. It makes me happy that Harry has somebody to now call family. lupin is also a fantastic character, I loooove him. I would love to have a prequel in which we get to see more of James, Sirius, Lupin and Peter when they were at school. It would be soooo fun! I would love to see more of James and Sirius friendship! the story in this one is great and entertaining, full of great twists. And i have to talk about Ron and Hermione, in my reread so far, i’ve been noticing how freaking cute they are. Ron is always defending Hermione, nobody can ever say bad things about her…. expect him, obviously.

So far, in my reread, this book is still my favorite.

Review : Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer

“Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters? Less”
Oh, how i have been waiting for this book for a long time and it did not disappointed.

There is so much I have loved about this last book. First, Winter. I think her character was so interesting and differents. Meyer really has a way of creating characters with fascinating personalities. They are all well built and so easy to love. I cared so much about all of them. All of them. Cinder and Kai, the strong beautiful couple. Thorne and Cress, the innocent and the criminal, who love eachother. Winter and Jacin, the two best friends who just need eachother more than anything else. and Scarlet and Wolf. My favorite. My babies. My broken couple, dark and lost and i love them. THEY ARE SO FREAKING WONDERFUL. I only wish we had more of them. Levana is such a great vilain. She is pure evil and scary. I hated her SO MUCH, but that’s what makes her such a good evil queen. The romance in this series was so well done and great. The storyline was exciting and fast-paced. Full of action and love. It was a big book, 830pages i think, but there was not one boring moment. I think the ending came a bit easy. In a more realistic version, i feel like the book would have a much darker ending. But since it’s a fairy tale reteling, i guess it’s something i should’ve expected.

SOOOO, Winter. Last book in one of my favorite series. Epic conclusion, fantastic ending. I’m so sad that it’s over. If you have not read this series, you really should give it a try.

Winter : 4.5/5
