Review : #Scandal by Sarah Ockler

“Lucy’s learned some important lessons from tabloid darling Jayla Heart’s all-too-public blunders: Avoid the spotlight, don’t feed the Internet trolls, and keep your secrets secret. The policy has served Lucy well all through high school, so when her best friend Ellie gets sick before prom and begs her to step in as Cole’s date, she accepts with a smile, silencing about ten different reservations. Like the one where she’d rather stay home shredding online zombies. And the one where she hates playing dress-up. And especially the one where she’s been secretly in love with Cole since the dawn of time.

When Cole surprises her at the after party with a kiss under the stars, it’s everything Lucy has ever dreamed of… and the biggest BFF deal-breaker ever. Despite Cole’s lingering sweetness, Lucy knows they’ll have to ’fess up to Ellie. But before they get the chance, Lucy’s own Facebook profile mysteriously explodes with compromising pics of her and Cole, along with tons of other students’ party indiscretions. Tagged. Liked. And furiously viral.
By Monday morning, Lucy’s been branded a slut, a backstabber, and a narc, mired in a tabloid-worthy scandal just weeks before graduation.
Lucy’s been battling undead masses online long enough to know there’s only one way to survive a disaster of this magnitude: Stand up and fight. Game plan? Uncover and expose the Facebook hacker, win back her best friend’s trust, and graduate with a clean slate.”
I really wanted this book to be super awesome : Gamer main girl, social media, cute romance and a bit of a Gossip Girl vibe, yes please.

But nop, this book felt flat for me. I barely could finished it.

The romance was not what I expected. Cole is almost not in the book which was a bit dissapointing. Lucy is in love with him from the start, but i couldn’t see it. I couldn’t believe it, not when they spend most of the book not with eachother. Plus, when they were together, i didn’t felt the chemistery. Sadly, i don’t believe in the Cold/Lucy couple and i really didn’t care about them. i think it also has to do with how boring the charaters were… The only awesome thing about Lucy was her whole “Zombie love”, but it was over played. it’s aaaallll she was talking about. that and the fact that she was in love with her best friend’s boyfriend. Also, i hated that she had many times when she could stand up for herself but didn’t. i wanted to punch her the face, she kept saying that the friendship was sooo important for her, but i felt like she didn’t fight for it that much. She was more focus on finding out who posted the picture than saving her friendship. All the side characters was empty and dull too. I did like the writing style overall, but couldn’t really enjoy it because i dislike the story AND the characters….

Can’t say i would recommend this book, i found it boring. I was in a mood for a cute romance, this was not it..
