Review : A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V. E. Schwab

“Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London.
In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries—a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.
But while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life, and those who were thought to be forever gone have returned. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night reappears in the morning, and so it seems Black London has risen again—meaning that another London must fall. ”

I love V. E. Schwab. I love her and everything she creates. I love her.

AGOS was simply incredible. I don’t even know what else to say. The storyline was so entertaining and fun and dark. The more you read, the more intense it got. I couldn’t put it down, couldn’t stop thinking about it. It had everything i love. It is such a well-done fantasy and i absolutely LOVE the magic in the series. and that ending? A CLIFFHANGER THAT MAKES ME WANT TO SCREAM. I need the next one, can’t believe i have to wait! it’s going to kill me. my favorite thing is the characters. Schwab’s characters are always interesting and real and so easy to love. I can’t pick my favorite because i LOVE them all. Kell is one of the best character ever. Sad, strong, poweful, loyal, he is everything i love and i just want him to have a happy ending. Please Victoria, give my baby a happy ending….ok? pretty please. And Rhy? I am so glad we got to see more of him and he is perfect. Lila? Lila is epic. She’s probably one of my favorite female character of all time. And we got pirate!! I’m really into pirates these days so i was really happy to meet Lila’s crew and her FANTASTIC new captain. ❤

okay, so what more can I say?? Read this series, NOW. it’s one of my favorite series at the moment. Writing this review was really hard because all i wanted to say was : Omg. Perfect. ahsjanssjs. ❤️

Shadowhunters

Hello Shadowhunters!

So, I haven’t done one of those blog post for the last 2 episodes of this series. I don’t really have an excuse, I was just not feeling it. but i’m doing it for this week episodes. Yay me for not being the queen of procrastination.

Okay, so before we start episode 7, I just wanted to say a quick words about the last two weeks. To be honest, i’m bored with like 80% of the storylines. The fact that Simon is still wondering what the hell is happening to him is killing me. I also dislike that all Clary is capable of doing is getting in trouble and saying I have to save my mother. Yeah. We get it Clary, now how about you stop acting like a little baby and listen to what the shadowhunters that are trying to help you are saying. I hate the fact that they added a whole political aspect to the Lightwood story. They actually want to force Alec into getting Married? why is that a thing? I’m not going to lie people, at this point the only reason i’m watching is MALEC. Because YES we got some very, very interesting malec scenes is the past episodes and it’s making my fangirl heart super happy.

Now, lets see where this week episode is taking us.

3…2…1…PLAY!

Unboxing : Owlcrate : Sci-Fi Love : February 2016

x

If you’ve been following me for a couple of months now, you know that I really love Owlcrate. It’s like Christmas once a month. This month’s box was called Sci-Fi Love and it is pretty amazing. So the first thing I saw when I opened my box was this BEAUTIFUL bag from one of my favorite sci-fe series. Designed by the team at OwlCrate, this bag features all of my babies from The Lunar Chronicles. Now I can walk around and show the world the names of my favorite couples *screams* SCARLET AND WOLF ARE EVERYTHING!………..okay, lets move on……the next thing I got was this cute little wooden Tardis brooch. Obviously, we needed a Doctor Who item in a sci-fi box. It’s actually really cute and it’s by Vector Engraving.

This month we got two books in our Owlcrate. First one is this beautiful edition of The Time Machine (X) by H. G. Wells. The second one is a debut novel by Emily Henry, The Love That Split The World (X). We also got a lovely little sticker that says : Because she jumped. The world was born. And a lovely little note from Emily Henry.

Overall, I am very happy with this month’s box. Owlcrate always does a good job. 🙂

Review : Unspoken ( The Lynburn Trilogy #1) by Sarah Rees Brennan

“Kami Glass loves someone she’s never met . . . a boy she’s talked to in her head ever since she was born. She wasn’t silent about her imaginary friend during her childhood, and is thus a bit of an outsider in her sleepy English town of Sorry-in-the-Vale. Still, Kami hasn’t suffered too much from not fitting in. She has a best friend, runs the school newspaper, and is only occasionally caught talking to herself. Her life is in order, just the way she likes it, despite the voice in her head.
But all that changes when the Lynburns return.
The Lynburn family has owned the spectacular and sinister manor that overlooks Sorry-in-the-Vale for centuries. The mysterious twin sisters who abandoned their ancestral home a generation ago are back, along with their teenage sons, Jared and Ash, one of whom is eerily familiar to Kami. Kami is not one to shy away from the unknown—in fact, she’s determined to find answers for all the questions Sorry-in-the-Vale is suddenly posing. Who is responsible for the bloody deeds in the depths of the woods? What is her own mother hiding? And now that her imaginary friend has become a real boy, does she still love him? Does she hate him? Can she trust him? ”

omg, this book was so fuuuun. i haven’t heard alot about this series before i started it, i don’t know why because it has everything it needs to be a good book. 1) addictive storyline. We have magic and murders, an enjoyable romance that made me scream : JUST KISS ALREADY!!! We have mystery and twists and an ending that left me wanting more. 2) a great writing style! I was not sure at first, because the only other things i ever read by Sarah Rees Brennan was her stories in The Bane Chronicles….and i didn’t liked them very much. BUT i was surprised and very happy to be surprised, i was hooked from the very start. 3) the characters. Kami may be one of the best main characters i have read about in a long time. She has such a funny and interesting voice. She is really fun to follow around. I like how smart she is. Her chemistry with both Jared and Angela was A+. She knows what she wants/needs and she is going to get it. To be honest, I LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS. Jared, Ash, Angela, Holly, Rusty, even the whole Lynburns gang. They are all interesting and well developed.

This book was fantastic. I have enjoyed every seconds of it. This book deserved more hype.

Unspoken : 4.5/5

My five favorite rereads.

In the last couple of months, I have found myself wanting to reread some of my favorite books. Going back to a book I have loved is like going back home after a very long holiday. Sleeping in your own bed after a long time away. Seeing the characters who have stole my heart is like meeting up with old friends, and falling into a writing style that I have found incredible is like hearing my favorite song…you get the feeling, right?
So here’s my list of 5 favorite books to reread. ^^

Review : Harmony House by Nic Sheff

“After Jen’s alcoholic mother’s death, her father cracked. He dragged Jen to this dilapidated old manor on the shore of New Jersey to “start their new lives”—but Harmony House is more than just a creepy old estate. It’s got a chilling past—and the more Jen discovers its secrets, the more the house awakens. Strange visions follow Jen wherever she goes, and her father’s already-fragile sanity disintegrates before her eyes. As the forces in the house join together to terrorize Jen, she must find a way to escape the past she didn’t know was haunting her—and the mysterious and terrible power she didn’t realize she had.”

  • I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
  • This book comes out March 22 2016

the cover had my attention. The synopsis sounded like something i would absolutely love. The prologue was interesting…..but than, everything went wrong. I spend most of my time feeling bored. i was expecting something creepy, scary but what i got was clichés after clichés. There is absolutely nothing scary in this story. What a let down… Also, i feel like the storyline had nothing to do with the prologue, we barely get any explanations, which was soooo dissapointing because it started off really good. The story has some flashbacks which also had nothing very original…. Oh, and the whole Colin storyline? Nop. The romance was not well done, did not believe in it, and we got barely any explaination about Colin’s situation. My bigest problem with this book would be our main character. She was awful, it was impossible to care of her. She’s rude, boring, and just annoying, and not gonna lie, she says “Jesus Christ” wayyyyy to many times is such a short book. None of the character were developed and none of them were interesting. The writing was okay, but it was hard to enjoy it when i saw so many flaws in the story.

Overall, not my first choice if you are looking for a good horror story. Maybe i just read to many books in this genre, but all i could think about while reading was : Been there, done that.

Harmony House : 2/5
