“Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in “The Satan Sacrifice” of Kinnakee, Kansas.” She survived—and famously testified that her fifteen-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, the Kill Club—a secret secret society obsessed with notorious crimes—locates Libby and pumps her for details. They hope to discover proof that may free Ben. Libby hopes to turn a profit off her tragic history: She’ll reconnect with the players from that night and report her findings to the club—for a fee. As Libby’s search takes her from shabby Missouri strip clubs to abandoned Oklahoma tourist towns, the unimaginable truth emerges, and Libby finds herself right back where she started—on the run from a killer. ”
That was dark. I don’t know what the hell is going on in Gillian Flynn’s head but i love it. She has a way of creating terrible, awful, female characters. In every ones of her books, we have this woman character who’s really, really twisted. This one had a couple of them and it was actually very interesting to read about. I like how different they all were. The male characters are not better, they’re mostly good for nothing losers. So we have twisted female characters and pathetic male characters, you already know things are going to be great. Add to this a crazy mystery. An intriguing, well-done and well-paced story. This book has some pretty intense parts… murders, satan worshipping, lies, drugs, sex, it’s a crazy mix. And the writing was great, like always with a Gillian Flynn. Her style really grabbed my attention from the start.
If you are looking for a vile and twisted story, Gillian Flynn is who you want to check out.
