Review : Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver

“Dara and Nick used to be inseparable, but that was before the accident that left Dara’s beautiful face scarred and the two sisters totally estranged. When Dara vanishes on her birthday, Nick thinks Dara is just playing around. But another girl, nine-year-old Madeline Snow, has vanished, too, and Nick becomes increasingly convinced that the two disappearances are linked. Now Nick has to find her sister, before it’s too late.

In this edgy and compelling novel, Lauren Oliver creates a world of intrigue, loss, and suspicion as two sisters search to find themselves, and each other.”
i have mixes feelings about this book. i enjoyed most of it. The begining was kind of long. It takes over 220 pages for things to get really interesting. Those 220pages are not completely boring, i was just not expecting it to be so slow. The second part was more interesting, but it felt too short. I was hoping of little bit more of the mystery aspect. I was not expecting the twists, so that was a fun aspect. I really like the writing style. This book had a very unique vibe, perfect for this kind of story. I’d be very interested to check out more of her books. The characters were okay. I like Nick, but didn’t care that much about Dara and the other characters.

Overall, this book was okay. I didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t THAT amazing either.
