“Julie lies dead and disemboweled in a dank, black subway tunnel, red-eyed rats nibbling at her fingers. Her friends think she’s just off with some guy—no one could hear her getting torn apart over the sound of pulsing music. In a tunnel nearby, Casey regrets coming to Survive the Night, the all-night underground rave in the New York City subway. Her best friend Shana talked her into it, even though Casey just got out of rehab. Alone and lost in the dark, creepy tunnels, Casey doesn’t think Survive the Night could get any worse . . .
. . . until she comes across Julie’s body, and the party turns deadly.
Desperate for help, Casey and her friends find themselves running through the putrid subway system, searching for a way out. But every manhole is sealed shut, and every noise echoes eerily in the dark, reminding them they’re not alone.
They’re being hunted.
Trapped underground with someone—or something—out to get them, Casey can’t help but listen to her friend’s terrified refrain: “We’re all gonna die down here. . . .”
i’m always looking for a good YA horror, but sadly, this one didn’t work for me. Actually, i dislike most of it. The first thing that hit me when i started reading was the characters. Most of them are forgetable, nothing extraordinary. But the worst of all was our main character, Casey, and her terrible, terrible, so call best friend, Shana. Such a destructive friendship that made absolutely NO SENS to me. Casey JUST came out of rehab, and what does Shana do? Make her drink, take her out to a party and drugs her. Yup. SHE PUTS DRUGS IN HER BEST FRIEND DRINK WITHOUT TELLING HER. What kind of best friend does that!? I didn’t care much about Casey neither, she keeps making bad decisions. She’s way too focus on her ex-boyfriends even in such an awful situation. The other thing i dislike was the storyline itself….it takes like 100pages for someone to die and for things to get kind of interesting. Then there’s alot of running around, I found this part abit boring. The ending was mehh.We get absolutely no explication about anything and it made me mad. Sometime the not knowing can add an interesting creepy aspect, but not in this case. i feel like we needed at least a little explication…
So, this book wasn’t the best horror novel ever, it was okay. but nothing extraordinary.
