Review : Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

“Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.”

I feel like i had the Lux series on my shelf for sooooo long. And to be honest, i don’t know why i didn’t picked it up sooner. I knew i’d enjoy it and i was not dissapointed. Obsidian was a quick and extremely fun read. No boring parts, it’s simply entertaining from the start until the end. Yes, it was predictable, yes, it had a couple of flaws, but it was also such a great ride. A good old supernatural romance with a hot alien and a fantastic main character. I love Katy, i could easily relate to her and i just enjoyed her voice very much. The fact that she was a bookworm and a book blogger was a plus too. Her interactions with Daemon were funny to read, and a big part of why it was such an entertaing story. I must say i had a little problem with the romance, because no way i could fall for a boy who talks to me that way, no matter how hot he is. I’m glad Katy is smart enough not to give in already, even if i’m sure they’ll end up together at some point in the series. The writing style was amazing, the more i read of her books, the more i enjoy Armentrout’s writing. It just so perfect for this type of story. i’m seriously loving her style.

Obsidian was a great start to what i am guessing will be a very fun series, i’ll be reading the next one very soon.

Obsidian: 4/5
