“When Paige moves from LA to Idaho with her mom and little brother after her parents’ high-profile divorce, she expects to completely hate her new life, and the small town doesn’t disappoint. Worse yet, the drafty old mansion they’ve rented is infested with flies, spiders, and other pests Paige doesn’t want to think about.
She chalks it up to her rural surroundings, but it’s harder to ignore the strange things happening around the house, from one can of ravioli becoming a dozen, to unreadable words appearing in the walls. Soon Paige’s little brother begins roaming the house at all hours of the night, and there’s something not right about the downstairs neighbor, who knows a lot more than he’s letting on.
Things only get creepier when she learns about the sinister cult that conducted experimental rituals in the house almost a hundred years earlier.
The more Paige investigates, and the deeper she digs, the clearer it all becomes: whatever is in the house, whatever is causing all the strange occurrences, has no intention of backing down without a fight.
Okay, overall, i enjoy the book. But it did have alot of flaws too. I think the diary format was well-done, and for me it did work for the story. Our main character’s voice was fun enough to follow. The storyline was okay, nothing incredible or super orginal. it did had some creepy parts and interesting moments. The whole thing with spiders really freaked me out, but that may be because i hate them. I’m gonna talk a bit about the ending now, so there’s gonna be some !!!!spoilers!!!!…. The ending was a let down. Such a freaking let down. Even if we get some sort of explanations about the haunting, i felt like we had some missing info. Also, it didn’t make sense that THERE IS AN ENTIRE FLOOR IN THEIR HOUSE AND THEY NEVER KNEW ABOUT IT. Not just a room, an entire floor and there are windows outside that obviously corresponds to this floor. *rolls eyes* oh, and it’s not all….our main character is crazy and a killer. This twist left me mehh. Especially since everybody around her knew she wasn’t okay and making the supernatural events worst….i mean, if you knew that why the hell did you keep her in that house?!
so, that was Diary of a Haunting. Not terrible, not fantastic.
