Review : There’s Someone Inside your House by Stephanie Perkins

Scream meets YA in this hotly-anticipated new novel from the bestselling author of Anna and the French Kiss.
One-by-one, the students of Osborne High are dying in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasing and grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and the hunt intensifies for the killer, the dark secrets among them must finally be confronted.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The book comes out in September 2017

I had to stop and think about this one before writing my review. It’s not that dislike it, i actually enjoyed some of it, but there’s a couple of things that annoyed me enough to bring the rating down. First, this is not horror. This is a romance novel place in a horror setting. It has some good horror scenes, some gory chapters, but most of it is push aside by the main love story. I liked the “scream” vibe we had in the first chapter, but it all fade away, and only cames back for the finale. I was hoping for just a tiny bit more at the end. Makani and Ollie were okay, but i still didn’t have a very big attachment. It’s was hard to care for any of the characters really because these two were the only ones we had any kind of development. So when one of them died, i had no emotions. i just didn’t care, and i think this is an important factor for a well-done slasher, you have to care when people die. My other problem is the whole killer revelations….because one, it came way too early in the story in my opinion, two, i was like who the hell is that?!

Overall, i think this book was okay, i was just expecting more horror less romance, and characters i would actually care about.
